We left early on Saturday from the Credles and still had to sit in some traffic on the road to Corolla, but we made the best of it by rolling down the windows and took some selfies (while parked, of course....the road was a parking lot at times).
We thought we were smart to take a side street. Um, not so much.

Once we got past Duck, traffic cleared.
The ocean was quite angry that day. The first of several red flags.
It was definitely a hot tub kinda afternoon. It was actually a little chilly!
The boys went fishing that afternoon.
The boys went fishing early the next morning too and look what DC caught!
It was a red flag day so we couldn't get in the water; so, we explored a little and started with some Duck Donuts! Not the one in Duck (we didn't want to wait in line, but the one in Corolla)
We did go to Duck though and walked around the waterfront beach shops. And discovered a beautiful butterfly!

Dan obliged me but really wasn't into pictures. We actually ended up spending the afternoon in Urgent Care with him as he had a fever and it was an ear infection. Probably from the ocean water the week before!
Poor Dan. He couldn't even eat chips and queso; that's when we knew for sure he needed to go the doctor.
Anabella's friend Jillian was in Duck at her grandparents house, so she stayed there while we took Dan to Urgent Care and then she came back with us for the night. Here they are in the theatre room.
The girls got up early with the boys and accompanied them fishing.

After breakfast, we all took a ride on the 4-wheel drive beach. Yep, another red flag day.
The men stayed at the 4-wheel drive beach and fished but we were a little cold (very breezy) so we came back and the kids played in the pool.

That night we went for our seafood at Jimmy's. Here's a selfie they took while waiting for us to return Jillian.
After dinner our carload (Alyssa, Ryan, Chip Belle and I) stopped by the waterfront boardwalk again and took a walk while we waited for the sunset.
Belle was standing on the bridge and her shoe got caught and whoops, there it went!
Days 4 & 5 we were able to finally get in the water!!

Fabulous family vacation! Lots of great memories even if the ocean wasn't on our side.
