They headed right for the water....
Anabella plopped right down!
Daniel decided to sand surf!
They both loved the waves!
Last year their favorite thing about the beach was the First Street play area. This year they enjoyed it, but seemed to prefer the ocean to the playground. They couldn't wait to get back to the water!
Anabella liked jumping waves!
Daniel was Mr. Independent strutting his Mission Man walk in his Elmo swimtrunks. He did not want anyone to hold his hand as he walked along the shoreline and ventured in and out of the water, calling each "big one" as the waves hit shore. He was fearless, unlike his poor mother who was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof!
I liked it better when we took some time to play in the sand. This didn't last long though; they much preferred the water! Anabella had a raw place on her foot where it scraped concrete at the pool a few days earlier, so she didn't like the sand much (though she was pretty much a trooper with it, only complaining slightly and mostly to "rinse off in water" once she figured out this got us to take her back in the ocean).
