After a fun afternoon at Granny's, Daniel and Anabella rejuvenated with a quick nap on the way back to Gainesville and arrived home to find MaMaw and PaPa ready with more treats....
The first being these awesome jack-o-lanterns that PaPa stenciled:
| Spiderman for Spiderman |
| Elsa for Elsa |
| Thanks, PaPa! |
| We sure do love our special jack-o-lanterns! |
Following the jack-o-lanterns, PaPa & MaMa had another trick up their sleeves: making a Halloween house.
| Proud of their creation! |
| MaMaw is always good about taking pictures of things I'd never think to photograph but always happy to have- like the outside of our house and outdoor decorations. |
| And, she never forgets to get her granddogs, of course! |
| Solomon looks a little apprehensive here, wondering where he's going all dressed up.... |
| While I never thought in a million years I'd ever be "Batgirl" for Halloween, never say never! |
| LOVE my Bat Family!! |
| Anabella's like....can we just go trick or treating already?! |
| Ok, just a few more pictures.... |
She loves to pose it up for pictures. (No idea where she gets this.)
| Let the trick or treating begin! |
| Solomon & Shilee went down the first street with us, but Shilee got tired and seemed a little anxious in the wagon, so we took them back after a short while. |
| The dogs never fail to attract attention. |
| Everyone in our neighborhood is so friendly & welcoming; makes me feel comfortable letting them walk to the door alone, but we did still walk all the way with them to some of the homes with scarier decorations, like the house below. |
| This skeleton stopped them in their tracks...the nice owner came out and encouraged them to touch it, explaining that it was just pretend. Daniel touched; Anabella preferred to just look. |
| Weren't sure what they'd think of this talking witch, but after that skeleton, they weren't fazed. It was Anabella's turn to ring the bell (we had to take turns as this became an issue after about the third time Daniel rang the bell). Once this "rule" was in place, they were fine. |
| Anabella's preschool teacher lives in our neighborhood. She was happy to see her. Daniel's assistant teacher lives one street over, but we were on a mission to get to the "spiderweb house" so we didn't make it there. We saw her during the costume parade the week before. Our babysitter had a football game Friday night, but we saw her mom, and we sent her a picture the next day. |
| Anabella wanted to check out the headless horseman (hey, is that Hayden?) from the comfort of her PaPa's arms. |
| People really get into decorating for Halloween nowadays. I don't remember that so much as a kid. The most you'd see was a jack-o-lantern. |
| He might look like a Batman, but this boy is a Spiderman at heart.....always having to check out everyone's webs. |
| It was a pretty mild night, so several people waited for trick or treaters on their porch. These people stopped them in their tracks though. Not sure if it was them, or that creepy baby by the webbed bushes. Now that was spooky. |
| We went down two streets before they started asking to ride in the wagon, which is our clue that it's time to wrap up. Like last year, our final destination is the "spiderweb house" at the end of the street. Daniel chilled in the wagon down the last stretch, while Anabella was still going strong. She just walked right up by herself. Turns out, Daniel wasn't feeling so well. When we got home that night, he got sick from a stomach bug that Anabella had just a few days before. Never a good time for one of those, but we were grateful it was at the end of Halloween night and not the beginning. |
| These next two shots aren't the greatest picture quality, but I love the enthusiasm in their faces. |
| They really did have a blast trick-or-treating. |
| Our final destination never disappoints. This nice man is and will forever be "the spiderweb man" and his house "the spiderweb house." We see him out walking his dog on our way to school most mornings, and we always cheerfully wave, while someone from inside the van always says, "There's the spiderweb man." |
We let him know this year (like we did last year) how much we appreciate his webbing. It has to be hard work spinning a web like that, and we want him to know that his effort is not in vain. Here's to another super fun & Happy Halloween!

What a talented Grandpa! I love family solidarity in Halloween attire :)
