Va. Beach Mini Vacay Day 1

Because Chip had the month of July off and swim was over, we decided to take a mini-vacay at the end of July for a little Virginia Beach get-away.

What do you know.....we stopped off in Va Beach outskirts to get some sunscreen and wouldn't you know, what did we spot but an ol' Krispy Kreme!! 

We stayed at Quality Inn Oceanfront Suites. We liked that the pool was right on the beach as we knew we'd be spending just as much time at the pool as on the beach. And sure enough, we were right. Probably more time at the pool actually. 

We liked having a balcony, too. 

First thing firsts, we had to check out the beach! 

Dan jumped right in, though he did have a healthy fear of the waves, which did knock him down a few times. But he'd shake it off and jump right back in there. 

This cutie was much more timid, hardly getting more than her feet wet.

I love when they spontaneously join hands. 

It wasn't long before the kids were ready to try out the pool. 

We had fun trying out PaPa's waterproof camera that he let us borrow.  I especially like this picture. Anabella was all about the camera; Daniel was all about swimming and a little harder to photograph! 

This big kid enjoyed the camera the most.

That evening we went to dinner at a seafood restaurant on the boardwalk called Mahi Mah's that was recommended by a friend of ours. 

We had to wait a while, so daddy entertained us by taking pictures and acting silly.  

Dan's coloring sheet turned airplane.

Pam gave me these outfits that used to belong to Sergey & Svetlana from Hawaii. I figured an evening at the beach was a good occasion to get some sweet summer pictures of these two who are growing up way too fast. 

What a beautiful evening!! 

Sorry for all the pictures....we took a ton and they were all just different enough that I couldn't delete a single one! 

They were having so much fun!! 

To me, one of the best parts of staying overnight at the beach is walking the beach at night. There's nothing better. 

We finally found someone to take a picture of the four of us....we were wet by this time but I'm still really pleased with the way the pictures turned out. Even though the kids weren't really smiling since posing for a picture isn't nearly as fun as running in and out of the ocean! 

Following our walk along the beach, we returned to the hotel where the kids put on their suits and went for a little night swim. 

We had such a fun day AND night!!
