Day 9 Spring Break: Aquatica then driving home....

Oh, to have just one more day! Always sad to leave vacation behind, we decided to make the best of it and visit Aquatica for another half day before hitting the road to head home on Saturday.

We'd done most of the packing and loading up the van the evening before, so Saturday morning, we got up, had a quick breakfast, packed our remaining items and lathered on the sunscreen for another half day of sun and fun at Aquatica.

Belle was excited to see Chomp again. I
 was afraid she was going to jump right in there with him!

The lazy river was our first stop. 

Followed by Walkabout Waters.

Good thing her daddy was off riding a waterslide because he wouldn't have wanted to see this......

 Next, we hung out at the wave pool and the kids practiced their swimming and enjoyed playing in the waves and sand.  About 1pm or so, we were planning to get a bite to eat when Anabella had a huge meltdown, over what I can't even remember. At that point, we decided it might be time to shower and hit the road.

While Daddy went to the car to get our clothes so we could shower and get dressed, we stopped by the snack bar and I let the kids pick a snack to help soothe the tears. It worked, too. Nothing like a little cotton candy (ugh) to make everyone happy again. Anabella picked cotton candy. Dan got a bag of chips. Mommy got popcorn. 

Since we had a little snack before we left Aquatica, we drove an hour or so before we stopped at.....

you guessed it....Steak & Shake! 

How can you say no to that?! 

They both slept several hours that afternoon on our way home. 

We stopped at Cracker Barrel for a late dinner around 8:30 pm or so and then drove till midnight where we'd reserved a room at Comfort Inn in Lumberton, North Carolina, just past South of the Border, about 6 hours from home (pretty much a half way point). 

This is our "sad face".....we don't want to go home!
