Father's Day

Since I'm so far behind on my blogging and just posted Mother's Day, I figure why not follow up with Father's Day.

We were having dinner that evening at Mom & Dad's so we decided to drive along the Skyline Drive on our way there. We started at a diner in Warrenton that Chip found online. He loves his diner dives. This was definitely a dive but a step up from Waffle House. The food was yummy!  

On the way through Sperryville, we passed by Cooter's Country Store and had to stop. 

The kids have never seen Dukes of Hazard, but Chip thought it was cool.

Such a cute daddy/daughter picture. Appropriate for the occasion. 

Mom & Dad saw a bear on their visit on the Skyline Drive just a week before, so we were hopeful but besides this lone deer, we didn't see any wildlife. 

I took a bunch of pictures on the Skyline Drive of Daddy with his babies. 

The boys took a little bike ride through the Elkwallow picnic area while Belle and I walked to try to find them (to relieve some of the my stress thinking of my 6 year old son riding his bike on the Skyline Drive of all places!). We met up with them at the gift shop at Elkwallow and followed them back to where we were parked and then we all took a hike through the woods together.

Following our hike, we stopped at an overlook and had a snack since we hadn't eaten since breakfast.

This is what we had to deal with in the van each time we got in and out. 

That evening we had dinner at Mom & Dad's and didn't get home until late so it wasn't until the next night when Daddy finally opened his Father's Day goodies. 

Anabella did this ALL by herself. The idea, everything. I was surprised by it as Chip was. Love notes are her speciality. 

This was her idea, too. Like me, he got several cards/projects, which is why he couldn't open it that morning. She was still working on something. 

Daniel did this at school. Anabella's teacher didn't send anything home for Father's Day. I guess it snuck up on her. This is a picture Daniel drew of his Daddy and him in the pool.....those are their bikes underneath them....they rode their bikes to the pool, he said. 

Chip's present was a set of wireless headphones he's been wanting so he can listen to music/podcasts while mowing the lawn, etc.

Here's hoping to get caught up on lots more very soon so stay tuned for some ballet, soccer and end of school year!!
