Thanksgiving

Here are some photos from our Thanksgiving at Mom and Dad's in Front Royal.  Grandaddy Bull (my grandfather) and Aunt Cindy (dad's sister) joined us along with Ryan, Hayden and Aunt Allie.  We celebrated at my parents house this year (instead of my Granny's like we do every year) because we were hoping my Grandma Bull, who is living in a nursing home, could join us for the day. Turns out she wasn't up to it, but we did make her a plate and deliver it to her along with some Thanksgiving sweets- my homemade pecan pie and Allie's real homemade (not like my homemade from Costco) pumpkin spice cake, which was super yummy!

It actually worked out well because if we were celebrating at Granny's we probably wouldn't have gone because Anabella wasn't feeling well and had a mild fever.  Our plan was to go to Granny's house to visit the family after we ate, but because Anabella was sick (and Daniel seemed to be getting sick too), we skipped it and came home so that we wouldn't infect anyone else.  A complete repeat of last Thanksgiving at the Credles- babies were sick with fevers so we had to leave right after dinner.  What is it with Thanksgiving and these children??

It had been a while since Cindy had seen Anabella and Daniel, so she made up for lost time with lots of kisses! And, Anabella, a.k.a. Miss Congeniality, obliged even though she didn't feel well.

It was November, but it seemed more like May.
Ryan, a.k.a. Mr. Future Football Star, perfected his throw with Dad.

Hayden, a.k.a. Mr. DareDevil, showed off his riding skills for Uncle Cliff.

Anabella wasn't feeling well, though you can't tell it in these pictures of her teasing my dad (her Dee).

Mom (her Maw) was offering her cranberry juice because it seemed to soothe her mouth.
Plus, everything tastes better from a glass!

Daniel, a.k.a. Mission Man, did some writing.

Aunt Allie tried to sneak a kiss, but Daniel wasn't having it.
He, too, we learned later, was getting sick.

Here I am trying to, cleverly, look down his throat.

Anabella takes her turn writing.
Write is one of her favorite words, just after juice and read.

Time to eat. Daniel was very hungry.
And with the way he ate, it was if he knew it was Thanksgiving.
Either that or he knew he was getting sick so he better eat while he could.
Whatever the case, Daniel ate himself a GOOD Thanksgiving dinner!
Must have been all that reading about eating Thanksgiving dinner in this book that
Beth got them- it was their first scratch-and-sniff, and they loved it!

We had so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Though we did miss the Credles, who we will see in two short weeks when they come to visit.  And, of course, amid our many blessings, we can't forget our little friends below, who weren't with us in Front Royal, but enjoyed plenty of leftover Thanksgiving "treats" over the next few days.

Solomon and Shilee celebrated their 3rd birthday on November 23rd. Grandma and Grandpa Credle sent their grandogs these very special homemade cards in the mail.  And, their Daddy got them a bag on Dingos, their favorite meaty bones.  They said they had a good 3rd birthday!
