The Big One

The first weekend in March, we finally got our big snow! Big meaning schools closed- code red- federal government worked from home, toilet paper cleared out from grocery stores, cars backed into driveways, snow boots and de-icer on sale at the store front (hurray for this- picked up snow boots buy one get one free- a size larger, of course, so they can wear next year).

Turns out, it was not so big after all.  The forecast was 6-12 inches for our area, 12+ west of us for Front Royal.

We got about 6 inches on Preakness Place (when you measured in a 2 inch hole).

Again, good thing we headed out when it was still snowing! If not, we wouldn't have had much play time because the rain turned it all to one "big" slushy mess.  In fact, it melted so quickly, Daddy only got one day home from school. Fairfax County went 2 hours late the day after the Big One! 2 hours late!

6 PM.
Compare to 7 AM.
Compare to Noon.
Next day all gone.
Schools 2 hours late.
 Federal Government back to work (on time). 
Toilet paper back in stores.
Daniel and Anabella running around the house in their snow boots (they did this for days until I finally put them away for next year).

Not so big after all.
