Back to the Ball Game

A few weekends ago, we headed back to the ball field. Only this time we ventured into the city for the real deal. We went to Nationals Park to see the Washington Nationals play the San Francisco Giants.

FUN!

We couldn't have asked for a nicer day. The weather was absolutely perfect for a baseball game- low humidity, a few clouds, nice breeze, perfect. Add to that our FREE tickets, a gift from our insurance agent who called us the day before when he realized he wouldn't be able to use them, and SCORE! All I had to do was buy Anabella and I t-shirts (validated of course by the fact that we had gotten free tickets), and we were set to go.

Go Nats! Woohoo! 

Anabella ended up giving Dan the new shirt- Bryce Harper, #34 and she took his Zimmerman #11 shirt that he's had for a while now. I think Beth got it for him a few years ago. The #34 shirt was a size bigger, so at my suggestion she was happy to let her brother wear it.  He was excited because it was "Bryce Harper" as if he really knows who he is. But, they were so cute at the game yelling "BRYCE HARPER, WOOHOO," whenever he went up to bat. ha! 

They were simply thrilled to go up this escalator.

It IS the only reason we go to Fair Oaks Mall after all. 

For free tickets, they were actually great seats. 300 section first row so plenty of leg room and a nice view of the field.

Smart Mommy thought ahead this time and packed a bag full of peanuts and bottled waters.
We still ended up buying concessions, but we did save a little at least.

Chip will find this amusing I'm sure, but in all my phone pictures I just realized I don't have a single shot of the players or the the actual field. Just the scoreboard and a few of our little Zimmerman and Harper! heeehee

I love when they hold hands. 

They enjoyed this playground; only it was so busy that I think we spent more time in line than they actually did playing. They allowed a certain number of children in at one time and for only 10 minutes. The nice thing was that there was a rookie concession stand there too, so they had popcorn to look forward to upon exiting after their 10 minutes. They took it in stride and were pretty much ready to head back anyway.

The game was a little slow at first, until, of course, we left for the playground at the top of the fourth. By the time we made it back, during the sixth inning, the Nats made an amazing comeback with 6 hits and ended up winning the game 14-6!

We stayed until the end because we thought the kids might enjoy running the bases, but once we got to the field they were so worn out, we didn't do much more than get a picture. Maybe next time.
