Labor Day Weekend

While we usually visit the Credles for one last beach/Water Country trip Labor Day weekend, this year we decided to avoid the traffic and opted to stay home instead.

We entered the weekend with no sets plans, intending to take it easy and just have some laid back family time.

Saturday was so beautiful, Chip suggested we take advantage of the good weather and go to Great Falls for a hike.  Since we were going to be over that way (in McLean), we decided to visit a playground that we'd been to a few times and knew the kids enjoyed.

After the playground, we had lunch at McLean Family Restaurant before heading to Great Falls for our hike.

Then, of course, they both wanted a turn.
This made me a little nervous, but everyone stayed safe.

What a fun day! The weather was beautiful and it was a nice, impromptu trip.

That evening Chip mentioned that the Nats were on a winning streak and that he wished we had made a game this season. On a whim, he decided to check to see if there were any tickets for the game the next day. Score!

Guess we went on Sunday?

Thanks to Facebook, I discovered that my good friend Cheryl was there with her family, so after the fourth inning, we joined them for the rest of the game. They have a little boy who is just a few months younger than D and A so they enjoyed eating peanuts and playing around while Cheryl and I caught up and the boys watched the game. 

Hooray for another fun day and a victory by the Nats! We got to enjoy a game this year after all. Who knew we had so much to do on the weekend when we started with no plans?!

On Monday, Labor Day, we did stay home. Though, Chip and the kids did take a quick trip to the pool. Belle and I made brownies for their lunches.

Daddy practiced putting up the tent so that we'd be ready for the following weekend, when we were supposed to go camping. We are just plain snakebitten with camping plans, though. It turned out to be a total washout. We are rescheduled for weekend of 10/17, when there's supposed to be trick-or-treating and Halloween activities planned, so that might be better anyway. Kids are SO looking forward to it! 

So, there you have it.....another fun Labor Day weekend in the books!
