Apparently, he told Chip he wanted to practice, and the next thing he knew, he took off!
A week or so later, he was riding like he'd been riding without training wheels his whole 5 year life! While at first he needed someone to help him start, he's since (within a week), learned to start himself and has even learned how to work the brake. In fact, just a few days ago, Daddy let him ride through the neighborhood (with Daddy running beside him, of course- we're now looking for a bike for Chip!).
It's SO cute. He's so proud. Our neighbor commented to Chip what a great kid he is, and "how proud he is riding his bike."
George was in his yard one night when he was out practicing, and Dan rode by and nonchalantly as ever said, "Hi, Mr. George." You kinda had to be there. It wasn't what he said, but how he said it. Three simple words, but spoken with such pride.
I love to watch him ride. He goes fast, too.
Even doing "tricks" as shown in the video below (Allie commented that he reminds her of Hayden here; I agree):
Go, Dan, the bike man!!
So proud of you, boy!
